"There Will Come Soft Rains" is a book design featuring a white background with black writing using two different fonts, one more uniform and the other with more personality to signal the speech of the electronic house. There are hand-drawn illustrations throughout the book emphasizing the grit and symbols described in the text. Later in the book, the page gradually fills with fire as the story takes a turn for the worst. The fire shines bright read standing out on the page. this is a work in progress photo of a life size, figurative clay sculpture. It is standing on a cart with wheels and has clay supports sitting on the toes going up to the knees. There are seams in the sculpture where it has been separated into pieces that sit on top of each other. One seam is just above the belly button and the other is just under the chin. The figure is nude, standing in a relaxed posture with hands crossed in front of their body. The figure has visible surgical scars on the chest from the removal of breasts. The genitalia of the figure isn't unclear. The hands and feet are simplified, without defined fingers or toes. The figure has short hair and thick eyebrows and its expression is tranquil to neutral. Handbound book composed of various sheets of paper, each with a different spice used as a natural dye. This is a replication of my grandmothers doily made out of brass and powder coated white to look like lace from the front side. The piece folds inwards to just a quarter of the size to mimic how a regular fabric doily would lay on a persons head. there are two feminine figures intertwined on four conjoined canvases. both are rosey in color tone, but one side has a more realistic value scale on the left while the other is inverted on the right - the inverted woman is laying her head in the other's shoulder. the woman on the left is emphasized as the canvas has been cut to follow the lines of her form, the woman on the right is behind a grid of scaled up skin cells. unseen by a singular image, you can use a uv flashlight to expose the hidden veins and skeletons within each figure. The image above features a plaster sculpture that resembles a human body melting and merging with a chair. The body itself is limbless, white, and resembles a shell that is held up by a network of ropes integrated within the cavities of the body to the corner of the frame. A woman lays on a bed centered in the middle of room, her upper body is hidden under sheets, while her exposed lower body shows this woman giving birth to the fully grown head of Frida Kahlo. This image shows Skógafoss, a well-known waterfall in Iceland, during winter. The waterfall is in full flow, with water forcefully descending into the river below. Snow and ice partially cover the surrounding cliffs and ground, indicating cold weather conditions. The contrast between the white snow and the dark rocks creates a dramatic natural scene. Clay forms winding on the walls of the studio move across the space and onto the floor. On the floor are small shelves made of clay. On the floor are many small pieces that were created as a time project. My aim was to make in clay and seek to know God more. My studio practice became a space for prayer. This project was an exploration of my faith as a Christian, investigating how I could know God more through clay. 'LoBack Meat Co.' is a 18” x 24” 6-layer reduction woodblock print on paper based on a photograph of a neon sign at Seattle's Pike Place Market. The sign's typography reads "LoBACK MEAT CO. QUALITY ALWAYS," but it has been cropped to "BACK MEA QUALITY ALW." The neon sign itself is a bright ocean blue in the upper foreground of the image, with the letters themselves contrasting in a rich yellow-orange. The outside of each letter is outlined in a bright purple, making the letters appear three-dimensional against the sign's blue background. A hallway leading back into space is depicted in the background, with a line of circular lights fading into the background on the faded purple ceiling. While the sign and typography stand out in a graphic way, the scene feels nostalgic and faded. Within the image's background is a faded gray rectangular sign with letters that look like words but are too illegible to read. The nostalgic feel of the words and the faded color palette are representative of a memory for me. I began to experience chronic memory loss after being diagnosed with mold poisoning shortly after graduating from high school. I was able to take a road trip across the Pacific Northwest with my stepfather in the summer of 2021. This was the first trip I was able to take since becoming well enough after my diagnosis, and I took hundreds of photos out of fear of forgetting the memories we were making. Each edition of this print explored the feeling of nostalgia, much like the flash of a memory we get of a time and place we can't quite pinpoint that's buried deep in our subconscious. Looking closer at the image, each cut is quite expressive as I explored my spirit and self through the cuts of the woodblock. The deer lies on its side in a fetal position with its legs curled in front of it and its ribcage exposed, showing the dark red flesh and ribs inside. Its skull is angular and off-white, with rows of uneven teeth and empty eye sockets. A small yellow bird is perched on one of the antlers. The deer lies on a bed of green moss, which crawls up into the interior of the ribcage, the floor of which is covered by thick vegetation and grasses, some of which is painted with glitter and soft pastels of pink, blue, and purple. This mossy world inside the ribcage is scattered with sparkling iridescent stones and small fairy lights that are hidden among the vegetation. Small shiny beads hang from the “ceiling” of the ribcage on clear strings, and are lit by the lights inside.
