I have been writing in journals since I was ten, documenting the days as they went by. Slowly, but surely, I began understanding that I was not just recording moments, but how I felt within them. These journals have allowed me to look back at the past versions of myself fondly, while also being a vehicle for me to understand the person I have become.
"That Reminds Me" is a collection of three comics that address memory in the context of identity formation. My fear of forgetting, opposition towards gender conformity, and the fading of familiarity with home, are amongst the themes conveyed within these narratives. With this book, I hope to illustrate these feelings in a way that establishes a link with readers, and hopefully make someone feel seen.
