Active MCard holders can access the building 24/7 using the four main exterior doors: two on the Bonisteel side and two on the parking lot side. Individual studio access hours may vary from building hours.

Holiday Hours:
  • On Wed., Nov. 27, the building will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with MCard access through midnight. Studio access will be available to those with MCards that have after-hours access.
  • On Thurs., Nov. 28, the building will be closed. MCard access to the building and studios is for essential workers only; faculty, staff, and students will not be able to enter the building.
  • From Fri., Nov. 29 through Sun., Dec. 1, the building will be accessible by MCard only, and studio access will be available to those with MCards that have after-hours access.


Our 70,000 sq. ft. main facility is located on the University’s North Campus, along with the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, the College of Engineering, the Duderstadt Center, and Pierpont Commons.

The Art & Architecture building houses well-equipped studios and labs, offices for Stamps faculty and staff, classrooms, and an 180-seat auditorium.

Walking, biking, or taking a taxi, rideshare, or bus to North Campus? This Google Map will lead you to our building entrance on Bonisteel Boulevard. There are bike racks on the west and east sides of the building.


Parking

Metered parking for visitors is available in U‑M Parking Lot NC-43, located directly behind the Art & Architecture building and accessible from Fuller Road. This Google Map will take you to the parking lot entrance. Public parking meters are enforced from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Do not park in the areas marked as blue or gold parking unless you have a pass, as you will be ticketed.

Accessible parking for vehicles with state-issued accessible parking placards or license plates is available next to the Art & Architecture building (Google Map). To reach the accessible parking area, keep right directly after turning into the Art & Architecture lot from Fuller road, and follow that right fork past the main lot and up to the building. Spaces are available on the east side of the building before you pass the entrances.

Other visitor lots on North Campus are marked in red on this North Campus Parking Map. Visitors traveling from Central Campus are encouraged to take a free U‑M Blue Bus to Pierpont Commons.


Driving Directions
From the North (Flint, Saginaw)

Take US-23 South to Exit 41 (Plymouth Road). Turn right off the exit onto Plymouth. Go approximately two miles, then turn left on Murfin Road. Continue to a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Murfin/​Bonisteel.

  • To reach the visitor parking lot behind the building, turn right onto Bonisteel Boulevard. Take the next left onto Fuller Road, and pull into the first parking lot on your left.
  • To reach the the entrance of the Art & Architecture Building, turn left onto Bonisteel Boulevard; it will be on your right.
From the South (Toledo)

Take US-23 North to Exit 39 (Geddes Road). Turn left off the exit onto Geddes. Geddes Road will become Fuller Road. Follow Fuller until you see a sign for Art & Architecture Building Parking” on the right.

  • To reach the visitor parking lot behind the building, turn right into the lot.
  • To reach the the entrance of the Art & Architecture Building, continue past the lot and turn right onto Bonisteel Boulevard. Continue on Bonisteel after the first stop sign: it will be on your right.
From the West (Chicago, Kalamazoo, Jackson)

Take I‑94 East to M‑14 East (towards Plymouth) to US-23 South (follow the signs carefully). From US-23, take Exit 41 (Plymouth Road) and turn right. Go approximately two miles, then turn left on Murfin Road. Continue to a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Murfin/​Bonisteel.

  • To reach the visitor parking lot behind the building, turn right onto Bonisteel Boulevard. Take the next left onto Fuller Road, and pull into the first parking lot on your left.
  • To reach the the entrance of the Art & Architecture Building, turn left onto Bonisteel Boulevard; it will be on your right.
From the East (Windsor, Detroit, Airports)

Take I‑94 West to US-23 North (exit 180). From US-23, take Exit 39 (Geddes Road). Turn left off the exit onto Geddes. Geddes Road will become Fuller Road. Follow Fuller until you see a sign for Art & Architecture Building Parking” on the right.

  • To reach the visitor parking lot behind the building, turn right into the lot.
  • To reach the the entrance of the Art & Architecture Building, continue past the lot and turn right onto Bonisteel Boulevard. Continue on Bonisteel after the first stop sign: it will be on your right.


Public Transportation

Multiple U‑M Blue Bus routes are available to travel free of charge from Central Campus to the Art & Architecture building on North Campus: look for bus stops marked Pierpont Commons” and Art & Architecture.”

Visit Magic Bus for a schedule of U‑M Blue Bus routes and an interactive display of all buses currently in service. Routes run frequently (every 5 – 10 minutes) during the academic year, but may not be available or run less frequently from May-August.

Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) bus rides are free for U‑M faculty, staff, and students with a valid M‑Card; regular fare is $1.50. Visit The Ride for bus routes and schedules.
