How to Attend

The Penny Stamps Distinguished Speaker Series brings respected leaders and innovators from a broad spectrum of creative fields to the historic Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Events take place Thursdays at 5:30 PM unless otherwise noted, and are free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.

In partnership with Detroit Public Television and PBS Books, videos of each Penny Stamps Speaker Series presentation will be released online the following week. Videos will be made available on Fridays at 8 pm on this page, at dptv​.org/​p​e​n​n​y​s​tamps, and on the Penny Stamps Series Facebook page for on-demand viewing. Some programs may not be available online, depending on artist requests.

About the Michigan Theater

The historic Michigan Theater, located at 603 East Liberty Street in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, serves as a community venue for live events and cinema presentation and film culture. 

Street parking is available, with meters enforced Monday-Saturday from 8am to 6pm. The theater is also located near two paid parking structures:

  • Republic Parking System (324 Maynard St. Ann Arbor, 48104
  • Liberty Square (500 E Washington St. Ann Arbor, 48104)
