There is a mannequin wearing a white 3D-printed form on the stomach and a maroon and pink cloak. A monitor is displayed on the wall behind the mannequin playing a contextual video of a woman wearing and embracing the garment. A small model of the garment is displayed on a pedestal to the left of the monitor.

"Maternal Solace: Liberating Motherhood" is a speculative installation interrogating the idealized model of motherhood. During the postpartum period, the mother is neglected with attention shifted onto the child. Straying away from the present to create a speculative future, this installation showcases a 3D-printed garment and hand-embroidered cloak. The garment surrounds sexualized body parts, the stomach and breasts, emphasizing the body’s capacity for childbirth. Imagery of warped internal organs and the placenta help evoke a visceral yet beautiful sensation. This object is intended to be worn at intimate home gatherings during the postpartum period in a future where motherhood is worshiped after the child leaves the womb by empowering the wearer in her returning body.
