Organically interwoven, perched delicately and interlocking, I rest with this creature.
I wonder about our capacity for care; in the nights when the air seems thick with a stillness, and in all the small moments we’re taught to look away. Is it so hard to imagine a world that holds multiple clashing truths to be real all at the same time?
In these ways, I have begun to recognize colonization as creature: as something so intertwined with the mesh of our beings. It is easy to dream of fantasy in beauty and what we are taught will bring us joy through external musings. It is an indisputable reality that our comfort comes from the violence enabled by western imperialism.
The truth is that our liberation, survival, tenderness and capacity for care is far beyond what we’ve been conditioned to understand. In our communities and lives, change is a must. Love is a must. To disrupt, to learn, to grow, for love is a faith based practice.
