Celebrating the Class of 2026
The 2026 Stamps Commencement Celebration will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Building 18 at the North Campus Research Complex.
Stamps Commencement Speaker
Renowned artist, educator, and alum Cosmo Whyte will be this year’s distinguished Commencement speaker. Whyte is a 2015 Stamps School MFA graduate, and since then, has exhibited his work across the country and internationally. “Stamps is where I learned the value of getting lost in the work and, through inquiry, mentorship, and risk-taking, to emerge with greater complexity,” Whyte notes. “I’m honored to celebrate the graduating class as they step into the unknown with curiosity and resolve, carrying with them the tools to move toward what has yet to reveal itself.” Read more about Whyte’s practice, work, and career here.
Stamps Commencement Ceremony Information
The Stamps School Commencement Celebration is the ceremony for the Stamps School only. It is not the event where degrees are conferred, and is less formal than the main university ceremony. Students are not required to participate in either ceremony. Ticketing information for the Stamps Commencement Celebration will be released in January 2026. All guests are required to have a ticket to attend. The ceremony will be live streamed above on May 1, 2026.
In 2026, the University of Michigan Commencement Ceremony will occur on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. Please review the information on the website for full details on that ceremony and what is required. More information will be shared with graduating Stamps students on the Stamps Intranet and through regular communications beginning in Fall 2025.
