Lisa Steichmann lives and works in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her partner, Jay, and her dogs, River and Radar. She is an independent artist and a teacher, who currently teaches photography at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design/University of Michigan, and at Washtenaw Community College. She has lectured at College of Creative Studies, Wayne State University, and other area schools. Her work traverses a range that represents her research interests into memory of disappeared landscapes, disability studies, and community-based performance art. The finished works appear as archival wet-process photography, traditional and nontraditional alternative photographic processes, digital giclée prints, limited edition artist books, videos, large-scale site installations, or documentation.
