Laura Napier is an artist researching the social cultures of oil and gas as we face massive global climate change. Her work explores behavior, sociology, and place through still and moving image, installation, and participatory and collaborative performance.

Napier has presented solo projects with Public Space One (Iowa City, IA), Alabama Song and the Solar Studios at Rice University (both in Houston, TX), and PS122 Gallery (New York, NY). She has also performed, screened, and shown work nationally and internationally with the XVII Biennale d’ Arte Citta di Penne in Italy; Contemporary Arts Center in Las Vegas; DiverseWorks in Houston; Flint Public Art Project; The Hatchery Art Spaces in California; Meetinghouse in Miami; Memphis Social in Tennessee; MMX in Berlin; NIV in New Delhi, India; and Soft Projects in Ypsilanti, among many others.

Napier’s work has been supported by Houston Arts Alliance, the Bronx Council on the Arts, DCA Greater New York Arts Development Fund, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Puffin Foundation, Max’s Kansas City, and the Idea Fund. Her work has been written about in Contemporary Art Stavanger (Norway), ArtNexus Magazine (Columbia/US), Art & Deal Magazine (India), and Hyperallergic (US).
