Curriculum Vitae
  • BA, Film and Video Production, Grand Valley State University

Hi! I'm Ben Zink. I grew up outside Pontiac in a neighborhood called Sylvan Lake. I started making videos with my friends when i was 12 years old and by the time college came, I knew video production is what I wanted to pursue as a career.

I attended Grand Valley State University and obtained my BA in Film and Video Production with an animation emphasis in 2015. In 2016, I spent some time in Los Angeles working part time at a pre-production studio and as well as having an editing internship at another. After realizing that current path wasn't going to work out for me, I moved back to Michigan to continue my career. Throughout 2017, I ended up working production set jobs and being a part time editor at a local studio until I received a full time opportunity and moved to Marquette, Michigan.

While living in Marquette, I grew exponentially with my skills in both video production and how to apply them in marketing. I held two positions while there: one being a Director of Video Acquisition at a small video production company; the other being a Video Producer at a local marketing agency. After living there for nearly 5 years, I was ready for a new challenge and opportunity. I accepted the Videographer position for U-M's Penny Stamps School of Art & Design and moved back downstate. Since joining the Stamps community, I have been fortunate to create and tell so many types of stories for students, faculty, staff, and any other projects associated here! In 2024, I was nominated for two Michigan Emmys for the “Making Art in Prison” and “Electronic Waste Jewelry: A Collaboration with the African Bead Museum”. I am excited to keep telling all the amazing stories here happening at Stamps!
