The face of George Floyd is a ubiquitous reminder to all of the tragedy that represents the urgency for change in our country. On May 29, 2020 I wanted to create a piece that served as both a memorial and a call for action to not let the face of this man be just a memory but to be a symbol of our country’s need to progress towards peace. The phrase “Rest in Peace” is one that asks us to forgive and let be. Using this unforgotten man’s portrait, I wanted to take this simple saying and change it from a message of resolution into one of action, and action towards change.
