Nordatlantens Brygge is a cultural center that’s dedicated to preserving and sharing art and culture from the North Atlantic, specifically from Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. This poster is a part of a larger rebrand project created during my study abroad experience in Copenhagen, Denmark, that focuses on community and connection through language. Incorporated into the branding are the different ways to say “hello” in the four native languages, highlighting the differences in culture yet creating a community for these four nationalities. When looking at the poster, the viewer might not be able to understand the different languages, creating a sense of curiosity to go up to the poster and see what it’s trying to convey, and in the process, learn more about the cultural center. The simple and clean design is meant to allow the language to stand out, giving the audience a preview of North Atlantic culture before visiting the center. To appeal to a younger audience (Danes ages 16-28), the national animals of the four places are also incorporated into the brand and poster. These animals guide the viewer through the center, explaining the culture from their respective places.
