This image above is of a white studio space with three walls. On the middle wall is a large architectural style, concept drawing of Lorewich, the theme park land designed for this project. Above the image is vinyl that reads Lorewich: Storytelling through Design. On the left hand wall, there are two signs made from foam. The signs are for The Bubbling Brews and Tizzie's Treasures, two of the shops shown in the architectural drawing. On the right hand wall, there is set graphics, these are pieces also featured in the concept drawing. These include a newspaper and products that would be shown in facade windows.

Lorewich: Storytelling through Design

This project focuses on graphic design as a mechanism for storytelling in the theme park industry. Theme parks aim to fully immerse guests and feature one or more lands. Each land is centered on a cohesive narrative, often including multiple storylines revolving around the attractions, restaurants, and shops featured within. Prominently featured is a concept drawing of the theme park land I created, Lorewich. Inspired by English folklore, the land features my own unique stories and characters, as well as reimagined takes on classic tales, such as those of the Filey Dragon and Tiddy Mun. The land’s attraction is Kip’s Quest, in which guests join Kip, a young wizard, and his sidekick, Tizzie Whizie, on an epic journey across England to rescue mythical misfits. The land enriches the attraction’s storyline by transporting guests to Lorewich, the thriving haven of those rescued. To accompany the concept drawing, I’ve created set graphics. Set graphics refer to elements such as logos, signs, and props that help enhance a guest's experience. The pieces shown focus on telling small, individual stories that when placed throughout the land contribute to the enriching of the attraction’s storyline and the immersion of guests in the space.
