Created completely freehand with no pattern assistance this sculpture was created in a little under a month to talk about the wonders of our world. Using the fibers of my yarn to blow up flora and fauna to a large scale I present the viewer with the beauties of our natural world. Everyday the world around us is getting deeper and deeper into a climate crisis, where we may be unable to preserve the life around us. Presenting my subjects in such a vibrant manner calls the viewer to look at its complexities, calling them to contemplate what our planet would look like with a lack of what makes it so colorful. The variety of flowers being held by the turtle calls the viewer to embrace the life we see all over the world, this life is being protected by its strong shell. The symbol of the turtle represents longevity, showing how the earth has continued to thrive, and with work put in to help sustain it, can grow stronger once again.
