A large colorful painting consisting of 4 panels all with the colors of ultramarine blue, yellow orange, magenta pink and lime green. There are 2 main panels that are cut into swirly pieces. One is in the shape of a “splat” while the other is more abstract. Two colorful arms extending from the bases. One green loop extends from the top right of the painting coming up and around towards the center overlapping the main pannel. The second arm is on the bottom right curling down and back up pointing towards the center, again overlapping the main pannel. The imagery is galactic, with a Baroque pattern in the background of the two main panels. There are 3 fractals of different sizes, all consisting of different imagery, one at the bottom with blue linear patterns that emphasize the negative space, one in the middle left that has radial pink extending from it, and the third is on the top right surrounded by dots that seem like they are floating but do not have a place in space.

Indeterminacy of infinity

Oil paint on Wood Panel

Undergraduate
This piece explores the complex relationship between infinity and human time through the medium of oil paint on wood, aiming to evoke a sense of wonder and discovery. I want to create a visual narrative that invites viewers to slow down, immerse themselves in the painting’s detail and reflect on their pace of life and their imagination. By creating dynamic layers and negative spaces, manipulating the sense of depth, and experimenting with unexpected colors and textures, I question the arbitrary boundaries between art and the world, and what a painting should be. The main subject: fractals, play into the indeterminacy of infinity and our perception of time.
