Born in America and raised in India, I navigate the complexities of dual identity, feeling both enriched and fragmented by two distinct cultures. This experience of belonging to two worlds yet fully to neither informs my artistic practice, driving me to explore themes of being, belonging, and the liminal spaces in between. Through textiles, graphic design, and wearable art, I delve into my heritage to create works that reflect the interplay of my American upbringing and Indian roots. Inspired by the intricate weaves of Indian textiles and the bold imagery of traditional American tattoos, I draw upon these forms to craft narratives that connect past and present. The wor is informed by the histories of colonization and cultural exchange that have shaped my identity, using art as a medium to reclaim my story. Saffron Spring Indigo Winter, a wearable tapestry, embodies this journey. It merges cultural symbols and materials to transform feelings of disconnection into resilience. This piece seeks to celebrate cultural hybridity and inspire others to find belonging in liminal spaces. Through storytelling and symbolism, I invite viewers to reflect on their own experiences of identity, fostering an appreciation for the shared humanity that unites us across borders.
