Sentimientos Resurgentes: un pasado no tan distante pero a veces olvidado / Resurgent Feelings: a not-so-distant but sometimes forgotten Past

This figure personifies the overwhelming emotions that overtake me when I encounter an artifact from my childhood when I navigated immigration to the U.S. at age 8 from Mexico. Emails, photos, and sketchbook pages remind me of interactions with family, dreams left behind, and the inevitable passing of time. This mix of nostalgia and grief lives within me, dormant most of the time, but ever present. In this sculpture, I face her, bringing to the material world the space she takes in me.
