"Attached" is an interactive painting installation delving into the profound impact of memory on our daily lives, with a focus on romantic relationships. Using oil paint on panels, the installation unravels the intricate threads of childhood experiences and past memories that weave into our present reality. Grounded in theoretical insights on memory, attachment theory and interpersonal relationships, the project merges psychology with personal observation to narrate the journey of attachment within romantic contexts. Drawing parallels between the past and present, viewers are invited to engage with the artwork by opening the panels, becoming active participants in the storytelling process and leaving tangible representations of memory.
As a painter, born into a family of artists in Rhode Island, I inherited a deep appreciation for the arts and self expression which has flourished throughout my creative journey at Stamps. My practice intertwines with a growing passion for psychology, as I strive to bridge the gap between subjects by integrating research into my work and inviting viewers to visually explore the complexities of human experience. Ultimately, my aim is to regift what art has given me by creating a space where viewers feel seen and inspired to reflect on their personal experiences.
