Nina Rachelle is an artist primarily working in photography and mixed media. Their work is inspired by the media that surrounds them, such as television, movies, music videos, social media, and fashion. Common concepts and themes in their work include gender identity, music, race, self-expression, sexuality, and personal style. Through their work, they hope for the viewer to have a new perspective of the media and content they may usually look at passively in daily life. In this project, Chopped and Screwed: Hip Hop X Fashion, concepts of appropriation, apparel , visual representations of music , and how pop culture and style are perceived by the public eye are reflected in these photographic works. This is an ode to the designers, stylists, and fans that have pushed Hip Hop to the forefront of popular culture.
