Bio Fusion endeavors to challenge the sustainability approaches of historically influential designers in modern design. With a rich personal history immersed in the realm of design, I felt compelled to interrogate their efforts towards sustainability. My journey began with an introduction to biomaterials last summer, prompting me to embark on independent research into their potential integration into design. My focus honed in on mycelium, initiating a process with trials and tribulations as I navigated its cultivation. This dynamic journey culminates in the exhibit before you.
The fusion of wood and mycelium presented here encourages viewers to contemplate their relationship with consumption and envision the future applications of these materials. This project represents an ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship beyond the confines of this exhibition, as I strive to support the planet through continued innovation and advocacy.
