Unspecified Chronicity

Daphne Wilson

Multimedia paper sculpture: handmade kozo paper, oil based relief ink on paper, nori paste

This work was created after getting the diagnosis of 'unspecified chronicity' in my knee following a prolonged injury. Exploring the body as a site of injury, the question arose: How do you portray something that is unspecified? This piece is constructed from handmade kozo paper and woodcut relief prints held together with nori paste. The final piece is an interpretation of how this chronic knee pain feels in my body: torn, complex and fragile.
