This image articulates the feelings of isolation and insanity one gets while having an anxiety attack in situations that appear to be “normal" or “common”. Within the composition is an image of a female sitting on a sandbank in the ocean with her legs crossed. Her facial expression depicts she is in distress as she is screaming and pulling her hair from her scalp. Fish and other sea creatures swim below the water around the woman and begin to float out of the water in bubbles. In the distance you can see a small sailboat on calm waters and a clear blue sky with few clouds.

We’re Fine But You Appear To Be Sinking

The relationship we each have with ourselves is the most complex and important relationship we have in life. I have been in survival mode for most of my life, and this piece represents the heart sinking feeling of waking up one day and realizing that four years have gone by in a flash. Sometimes, I don’t even know what has happened and I feel like screaming out for help. People only see part of what you show, but so much is hidden underneath every person’s “water.” This piece is the way that I feel when I may look calm on the outside.
