Suitcase, stuffed animals, white acrylic gesso, cardboard, and charcoal drawing

Undergraduate
This piece reflects on my feelings about leaving the house I spent a decade in. I felt my heart ache at the change when we had to move my room around so people could fix the walls. All the pink rugs were rolled up and pushed to the side. As I realized the little ecosystem in my room was changing, I was given a box and told I had to pack up my toys. Though I did pack half of my toys, I took the ones I had the strongest memory of and used them for this work. This piece has a drawing of me when I was younger and a drawing of how I look now. As we’re talking on the phone or cup, surrounded by our beloved toys, we’re getting ready in our own ways for the future. All my memories and thoughts are stuffed into one little suitcase. The toys were painted white acrylic gesso to show how time changes as well as memories.
