Zera Anderson: Rest in Quietness

Rest in Quietness

Zera Anderson

When you rest in quietness and your image of yourself fades, and your image of the world fades, and your ideas of others fade, what's left? A brightness, a radiant emptiness that is simply what you are.

ADYASHANTI

Somehow it seems impossible to reason Adyashanti's quote as being achievable in today's world. Consumed by electronic distraction, overwhelmed by social media demons. My piece depicts this state of mind. This state of torture. Fear often takes us to a child-like state of being, wanting us to hide or blanket ourselves from stress and responsibility. This piece draws from a relatable and perceived obligation to attach ourselves to all avenues of 'space filler.' The god-forbidden moments of silence... of empty space. Feeling forced to engage, to bite the instant social media craze. My piece shows modern day anxiety.
