Samuel Knecht: La Passerella a Venezia

La Passerella a Venezia

Samuel Knecht

I divide my work between portraiture and landscape, painting in a realist tradition. While I paint most often in oils, occasionally I work in egg tempera.

Tempera demands much craft and skill of the artist who chooses to pursue the Renaissance methods involved. This work aims at tension between the loveliness of a young woman and metaphorical chaos inspired by alleyways in Venice, Italy.
