Objects are essential in any tradition, but what happens when we conceptualize tradition as fluid rather than constant?
“a giving tradition” is a collection of serving ware designed for contemporary afro hospitality customs. Centering on the experiences of first generation west African americans, I created serving objects meant to share, embodying key values of generosity, reciprocity and collaboration.
