Emma Schau: Diary of a Vulture

Diary of a Vulture

Emma Schau

Roadkill lies (quite literally) on the threshold between wilderness and technoculture. It is one phenomenon of many that form a complex web of human-animal interactions; unlike hunting or farming, however, roadkill is an accident, an unintentional byproduct of predator extirpation and automobility. In Diary of a Vulture, I take on the role of scavenger and explore how--and why--one might find purpose in a roadkilled body.
