Suzanne Beutler: Childhood Imaginations

Childhood Imaginations

Suzanne Beutler

Childhood imaginations are important signals for transitions to adulthood. This painting shows one of my childhood reoccurring visions of the village where I lived. I watched over this village and took care of it in a child-like way. Now my civic activities reflect the same caretaking attitudes. I find that I can recreate and transform my memories through painting. Our memories take us back and forth in time, and generate future hopes and dreams. These experiences are also part of my memories that I am continually building and recreating.
