Lake Sakakawea is a reflection of human intervention in nature. Located in my home state of North Dakota, this reservoir has a surface area of about 480 square miles. Issues such as the displacement of indigenous people for the purposes of flood control, creation of hydroelectric power and irrigation use, as well as recreational applications have far reaching effects for the land and people for generations. The interweaving of relationships and contradictions between physical and conscious environments are mysteries I am pursuing with this work.
