My freestanding work is built from the ground up, attaching the legs to a base, and adding the other parts until the work is complete. I work intuitively, altering parts in a random manner, allowing them to become the animal. The ceramic processes tell a story about how the sculpture evolved. As I work, I am focused on the decisions that I make one at a time. As a result, when I step back and look at the entire piece, I am surprised. I have a sense of seeing it for the first time.
