At the age of 18, Lisa fell in love with the New England Island of Nantucket and began spending summers there. Lisa was captivated by the beautiful light and landscapes of the island and her art is greatly influenced by her time spent there. She enjoys painting from real life using still life, models or the landscape as inspiration; but also likes creating compositions in the studio, both representational and abstract. She is concerned with creating mood and atmosphere in her work; using brushwork, color relationships and the play of light to accomplish visual objectives. She finds inspiration all around her: people, nature and things of all sorts make her want to grab a paint brush. Painting enables her to capture a moment, feeling or reaction.
Lisa received a BFA from the University of Michigan. Lisa studied under Belinda Wilson of Auckland New Zealand, Pam Hassler of Memphis, TN, and Tim Weidner of Birmingham, MI. Lisa is represented by Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery in Nantucket. Lisa is an artist member of the Artists Association of Nantucket.
