Judi Simon: After Taq Class

After Taq Class

Judi Simon

My art work often reflects a specific happy memory from my childhood. I chose to paint the “tap shoes”, not just because it brought back a wonderful time in my life, but also because of the strong contrasting shapes and colors. These tap shoes were worn for many “end of year” dance recitals and I have kept them all these years. I love the cracked black leather, the gross grain ribbons with the frayed ends and the reflective metal taps contrasting against the light carpet. They were wonderful objects to paint and remember.
