Scientific illustrations from the Journal of Clinical Investigation

Looking back, I think I'd always had an interest in scientific illustrations. I just never realized they were a distinct type of art until I took Joe Trumpey's sci ill courses (at the end of the last century...). Since then, I've focused my art on trying to help explain scientific concepts, both in print and in museum settings. These pieces are from the Journal of Clinical Investigation, where I have been the on-staff Scientific Illustrator since 2004.
