The Bottom is a space which renegotiates perceived or enforced queer shame and inferiority into self-acceptance. As a tufted rug displayed on the floor, it embraces inferiority, mirroring the sentiments behind the reclamation of the word "queer," abjection and abject art, and queer leather sex scenes.
