hyello! (hello+yellow) is an editorial publication aimed at highlighting the narratives and perspectives of East Asian American individuals of the first and second generation experience. hyello! highlights the Asian American identity as the vehicle to invite discourse about belonging, family, community, politics, representation, and our social landscape. This issue introduces the history of the term “Asian American”, features a short story written by Ken Liu, speaks about the dissonance between home lunch and school lunch, articulates the importance of political engagement, and more!
