Objects of Existence

Kate Johnson

Objects of Existence explores the intersection between object, place, and the everyday experience. Using the making process as a meditation on the artist’s everyday experience, these sgraffito-adorned vessels document seemingly mundane objects and glorify them as landmarks of the artist’s existence. Inspired by ceramics’ long history of documenting the past, these vessels are reminders of this moment in time- and that no matter the circumstances, life should be recorded through art.
