This piece is a representation of personal development beyond my childhood diary writings, both physically and emotionally. The paper quilt resulted from an evolution of the diary’s material form into a new physical context so that I may grow beyond its confines. It takes on the shape of a quilt due to the many similarities that arise between that and the diary. Elements of the past come together to construct their final forms. Both are influenced by time and evolve with it. By physically deconstructing the bindings and entries within the diaries, I have gained a transformed image of myself unrestrained by past expectations.
