In an homage to Schiele, a nude figure is rendered in sketchy marks

Silence

Maisie Prince

Inspired by countless Egon Schiele drawings, this piece reflects my experimentation with the rawness of the human form. This self-directed piece is a reflection of my internal voice and, in many ways, a self-portrait of that voice. I believe that people rely too heavily on others in order to feel pretty or worthy. But really, our pursuit of happiness should come from within ourselves and only ourselves. This piece represents the feeling of being comfortable in one’s own skin and feeling beautiful inside and out. In this print, the woman is posing naked and proud. I wanted her head to be slightly tilting away from the viewer, as if she is ignoring the outside world and simply being herself in the silence of the white paper, her internal voice being the only one speaking to her.
