This image is an installation view of painted canvas and mesh. The paintings are mostly vibrant, abstract color-fields. Painted meshes are layered overtop, with imagery of a young girl and a cat, along with other childhood scenes. These layers are meant to represent tangible memory.

MESH

Paulina Braverman

Undergraduate
These painted meshes, consisting of tulle and window screen, make tactile the materiality of memory– something fibrous, layered, enfolding, malleable, and shifting. Drawing from family photographs, the unconscious, intuitive mark-making of childhood, and mindfulness, these paintings call particular memories into the present moment, to be observed and transformed.
