Bump comprises two interactive sidewalks (each 50ft long) that tangibly connect two distant public places/cities in real time. Bump premiered at the Ars Electronica Festival in 1999 as a tactile communication bridge between Linz and Budapest. It has been shown across Europe various times including at venues such as the CeBIT in Hannover, and most recently in Istanbul, where the installation bridged the Bosporus between Asia and Europe as part of Istanbul 2010 — European Capital of Culture.
