Sohyun Lim is a UI/UX and Graphic designer. Her project UMarket is a mobile marketplace app specifically designed for college students. The college-based marketplace connects students to available opportunities for buying and selling within the community. The sellers can post listings of any items they would like to sell, and interested buyers can directly message sellers for a private conversation. The project was first started with the problem statement that students need a safe and convenient way to buy and sell products. Platforms for second-hand marketplaces are outdated, sketchy, and time-consuming. It encourages users to throw away their used goods instead of selling them and is worried to be scammed by a buyer. UMarket provides a safe, secure, and local online environment where students can buy and sell products with ease. UMarket further provides safer transactions with the QR code functionality to be utilized when meeting people in person to verify security.
