Situated within the scope of speculative design, Arriving Spaces, Departing Places is the culmination of a singular product offering called Flow, which consists of a mobile application and physical ambient device that work in unison with each other. The work addresses ways in which current subway systems in American cities have the potential to generate and encourage reclamation within our civic spaces. The goal is to increase passenger sentiment in public transit through a personal product that is centered around health, well-being, and community engagement. The expected result is an enhanced transportation experience that shifts the discourse away from the vehicles themselves, and more towards the future mobility of passengers and their relationships to the spaces around them.
