My piece, entitled "Growth," is intended to discuss isolation. For me isolation means waiting, but also growth. The amount of waiting that has happened in 2020 has encouraged me to find joy in these periods of stillness and uncertainty. This new phase of the pandemic is also the end of college for my peers and I. I have found myself reflecting on the substantial amount of growth that I see in myself and the people close to me despite nearly two years of feeling stagnant and unproductive. The intent of my green ceramic chair is to create a place that will be enjoyable to wait in, an attempt to demonstrate that our minds are still advancing while we may be physically still. The biomorphic chair is also meant to address a sense of self and individuality that I have found unavoidable and especially prominent in isolation.
