Pillar is everywhere you go. It represents its local culture and so every pillar is unique in shape and style. However, the main purpose of a pillar is the same anywhere: to support the infrastructure on top of it. It is sturdy and reliable. The pillar to me is a representation of what I wish to be. Studying abroad in a Western country, I felt like it was easy for me to forget about my Korean identity as an artist. And like this pillar, I want to become an artist who is proud to show their identity and culture to the audience and most importantly, like a typical pillar, have the strength to support and endure whatever puts pressure on it without breaking apart.
