Florilegium in Cooperation

Watercolor on paper in an accordion fold book

Undergraduate
Florilegium in Cooperation is a celebration of cooperative values, intentional community, and garden wildness. In this piece, I composed 10 watercolor paintings in a small accordion fold book. Each painting depicts a different plant found in the garden of the MichMinnies cooperative house with a silhouette of my hand holding, supporting, and caressing each plant. In doing so, I don’t isolate the beauty and flourishing of these plants outside of human contexts. Instead, I reveal how humans can extend cooperation, community, and space to include our plant companions and their needs. In this extension, we take small steps towards building a more collaborative, inclusive, and enchanting multi-species world.
