As an undergraduate Academic Advisor, Cierra Sutherland aims to empower students and champion curiosity in their academic and career pursuits. Cierra comes from a background in career development and coaching, academic program matriculation, transfer student admissions, and academic records, lending her a unique lens for understanding the full student experience. Cierra takes an empathetic and developmental approach to advising individual students, and finds the most joy in witnessing student growth and helping students find a sense of belonging in the U-M community. You can always count on her to help students celebrate their individual wins, however they may define them! Cue the confetti!
Outside of her professional work, you may find Cierra spending time outside running or gardening (i.e. playing in the dirt!), shopping at thrift or vintage stores, reading on the couch with her two cats, or volunteering her time with animal welfare organizations.
