Work by Blanca Echeverria

Work by Stamps staff Catherine Conveyou, Blanca Echeverria, Rita Lee, Kit Parks, and Veronica Tabor is featured in Between Desks and Studio: Outside & Beyond Work, on view at the NCRC Building 18 Connections Gallery from May 16 — August 18, 2025. The exhibition opens with an artist’s reception on Friday, May 16 from 5 – 7 p.m.

This exhibition presents a captivating collection of works by the exceptionally talented artists who are also on the staff at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design. These individuals play vital roles in nurturing the next generation of artists while also dedicating themselves to their personal artistic practices.

As they balance their responsibilities within the academic environment, they skillfully alternate between their desks and studios, pouring their passion and creativity into their own research. The resulting works on display reflect not only their unique perspectives and experiences but also the vibrant spirit of innovation that permeates the school.

By showcasing their diverse talents and imaginative visions, this exhibition invites viewers to appreciate the profound connection between teaching, learning, and artistic expression, revealing how the dual roles can enrich the artistic landscape for both the artists and the students at Stamps.
