Stamps Alumni Featured in UMHS Gifts of Art Gallery

Gutoskey Mandala

Pieces by John Gutoskey (MFA 2014) and Carlye Crisler (BFA 1979) are currently featured in the University of Michigan Health System’s Gifts of Art Gallery. These exhibits are on display from December 19, 2016 – March 12, 2017. All exhibits are free, and the galleries are open daily from 8am – 8pm. The gallery is located at University of Michigan Health System, 1500 East Medical Center Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48109.

John Gutoskey is an artist, designer, printmaker, and collector. He has a background in theater, fashion design, therapeutic bodywork, meditation, printmaking and assemblage. John’s work, Symbols in a Dream: Mixed Media Assemblage,” displays mandalas made from a variety of commonly found objects including game pieces, gum wrapper chain, American bricks, pop bottle caps and more. John’s art is located in the University Hospital Main Lobby, Floor 1.

Carlye Crisler is an Ann Arbor artist, originally from Chicago. Her goal is to paint an environment or neighborhood by showing activities, people, and lighting at a particular time of day, capturing an extended sense. Carlye’s exhibit, Ann Arbor Street Paintings: Oil on Panel,” features complicated places with many textures and divisions of space. Carlye’s work can be found on Level 1 of the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
