In the U‑M Arts Initiative Project Fair Representation in Art and Data, Stamps Associate Professor Sophia Brueckner and Stamps undergraduate Shannon Yeung worked with UMMA and the Michigan Institute for Data Science to apply face detection and race classification algorithms to UMMA’s collection of artworks.

White Cube / Black Box presents the team’s early findings and can be seen at UMMA starting Oct 16. The exhibition opening was kicked off with a mini-symposium organized by MIDAS, U‑M Digital Studies Institute, and Stamps Gallery.
