Scientific illustration students from the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design have illustrated some of the colorful plants from the Conservatory’s Tropical House at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. These stunning illustrations capture a wide variety of species including orchids and bormeliads. After sketching, studying, and taking photographs of their chosen specimens, students created their own compositions and designed a postage stamp to give their illustrations a context. The illustrations are on exhibit in the West Lobby at Matthaei Botanical Gardens until November 26th.
Matthaei Botanical Gardens is located at 1800 N. Dixboro Road, Ann Arbor.
